Address / Adresse: Oranienstraße 2, 10999 Berlin

Public Transport/ ÖPV: U1 / U3 Görlitzer Bahnhof

On a house wall to the right-hand side, at the corner of Manteuffel Straße / Oranienstraße, you see the huge mural “Nature Morte” by the Belgian streetart artist Roa. It was created in 2011 in the context of the “Transit” exhibition organized by Galerie Skalitzers Contemporary Art.

Hanging upside down next to one another on ropes, we see from left to right a dead hare, a stork and a roebuck, below them a dead bull and a dead wild boar. The head of the wild boar lies severed beside it. The mural is kept in black and white except for the blood on the neck of the wild boar.

Roa is well known for his pictures of native animals, whether from the region or from the country. The partially injured and bloody carcasses of wild animals are a trademark of the artist.

Roa has left his traces on many walls in Berlin. For example, the four oversized rats climbing up a narrow wall in Schönhauser Allee.
